How safe are you?

Personal crimes include rape, sexual assault, robbery, and aggravated & simple assault. Property crimes include burglary, car theft, and theft have been constant. This is no time to be complacent. Many criminals prey on people who are "off guard". Criminals look for people who are not paying attention to their surroundings, and then use the element of surprise to their advantage. Also situation where your home and business are vulnerable due to lack of preparation and understanding of basic security and safety. Regardless of some improved crime rate, crime still affects everyone in all types of neighborhoods and communities; it crosses economic and racial lines.

Preventing crime from happening requires an active mind and body. It means paying attention to your instincts, to other people, and to your surroundings. It means constantly training your brain and limbs to act defensively. It is a way of life.

We often hear of crime and violence in the media, that goes viral on social media. If citizens become more vigilant we can do more as communities to mitigate crime and help law enforcement efforts.

We have approximately 400,000 people living in The Bahamas, and just under 3000 police officers, the math is clear, the police can’t be everywhere all the time, but citizens can learn to be more aware and alert, better trained to protect there community, home and family.
