Course Description:

This course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for the safe and proper use of a shotgun in shooting a moving target. This course is for students who want to learn the safe, responsible, and practical use of shotguns. Students will learn the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a shotgun safely and responsibly.

This course is at least 8 - 10 hours long and includes classroom and range time learning how to shoot shotguns at moving targets. Students learn rules for safe firearms handling; shotgun parts and operation; shotgun shell components; shotgun shell malfunctions; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting at straight away and angled targets; cleaning; and continued opportunities for skill development. 

Required equipment: (Contact us about any equipment you may not have)

  • Hearing Protection - (if you don't have - will be provided for use during course)

  • Eye Protection (if you don't have - will be provided for use during course)

  • Billed Hat (baseball cap or similar style)

  • Sturdy Footwear (closed toe boots/athletic shoes/tennis – no open toe shoes/sandals/flip-flops)

  • Crew Neck Style Shirts (short or long sleeve – no tank tops or low cut shirts)

  • Appropriate Weather Clothing/Gear 

  • Your Licensed Serviceable Shotgun (with shoulder stock)

  • Government Issued I.D + Firearm License

  • Ammo: At least 100 Rounds bird shot/target load, 10 Rounds 00 Buck, 5 Slugs optional (gauge specific to the shotgun being used - factory loaded only, no reloads)

  • Cleaning Kit (specific to the shotgun being used)

  • Food/Snacks (lunch/breaks)

  • Water/Sports Drink (for the duration of the course)

  • Note Taking Materials
